Step 1
Heat water to 200°F (94°C) for light or medium roasts. For dark and decaf roasts, use a temperature of 190°F (90°C)
Use filtered water if possible. Don’t have a kettle with temperature control? Boil and let sit for about 1 minute.
Step 2
Weigh out coffee and grind at a medium grind.
Step 3
Add your filter and grounds to your brewer.
Step 4 – Bloom
Pour 3x the weight of your coffee of water over the grounds, making sure to wet all of them, and let sit for 30 seconds. The bloom releases CO² from the coffee. If it drains too fast, give it a gentle swirl.
Step 5 – Pour
Slowly pour the remaining water in steady circles. If the coffee is draining too fast, you can add some agitation or split the pour into two pours.
Step 6
Let it drain completely, then enjoy!
